Taking a Good Golf Swing

You are probably quite aware that you need to have a good golf swing in order to be a good golfer. If you've golfed a few times, you probably also know very well how having your swing off just a little bit can ruin a whole day of golf and lead to a lot of second guessing.

When you're trying to drive the ball, your golf swing is an attempt to get as much distance as you can without making any sacrifice in directional accuracy. Really, the only way to consistently meld these two facets of the golf swing is a lot of practice. This is at the heart of why there are so many golf videos and golf books out there describing such facets of the golf swing as the perfect rotation, perfect stance, and perfect grip. It is a lot easier to have a good day of golf if you spend most of your time far along the fairway and in the greens.

Having a perfect golf stance should not be underestimated. One of the often forgotten keys to a perfect golf stance is that you must be comfortable and balanced at all times. It should feel very natural to you, even though it may take you a while to become natural at it.

If you are slouching or taking a baseball batter stance, you'll find yourself striking out a lot. You want to stand with your feet apart, but not too wide. Balance, as you shift your weight from your back leg to your front leg, is crucial. If you find yourself out of balance after your swings, there is something wrong with your golf stance that is ruining your golf swing. Try making golf swing stance adjustments until you feel balanced from start to finish.

One way to know if you're finishing a balanced swing is to check the end position of various body parts. At the end of a balanced golf swing, the back toe is to the ground, but the weight is on the front leg. Your chest should be pointed in the direction in which the golf ball is traveling. Just making sure you finish the golf swing correctly can make a big difference in your driving results.
